Dr. med. Barbara POMPEI

Biography
Dr Barbara Pompei began her training in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery in 2013 at the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in Italy.
From 2017 to 2020, she worked as a Senior Registrar in the Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery and Hand Surgery unit at Guy’s and St. Thomas Hospital in London, UK. Between 2019 and 2020, she served as a microfellow specialising in breast reconstruction at the same hospital.
Meanwhile, between 2018 and 2020, she earned a Master of Science degree in Oncology, Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Breast Surgery from the Reconstructive Microsurgery European School (RMES).
Today, Dr Pompei works as a Consultant in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the Plastic Surgery Group (PSG) in Zurich.
Between 2019 and 2020, she served as a Consultant in the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in Italy, and received a research grant in microsurgery from the same department to help develop a basic microsurgery unit and training laboratory.
From 2020 to 2023, she held the role of Chief Resident in the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale (EOC) in Lugano. She primarily cared for breast patients and was a core member of the base team at the Breast Centre of Southern Switzerland (CSSI).
Alongside her clinical work, Dr Pompei is also a speaker and faculty member at several national and international specialist conferences. She is active in university teaching and research in the UK, Italy and Switzerland, and is the author and co-author of scientific articles and chapters in specialist publications.
Since November 2023, she has been part of the Affidea Switzerland team at the new Ticino Breast Centre.
