Dr. med. Damir DE MONACO

Biography

Born in Visp, canton of Valais, on 17 March 1969, and raised in Ticino, Dr De Monaco earned his medical degree at the University of Lausanne in 1995. In 2000, he obtained his doctorate from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Zurich.

He trained in Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery at the hospitals of Lucerne and Aarau, obtaining both the Swiss FMH and the European EBOPRAS specialist titles in 2002.

In 2004, he achieved the FMH specialist title in Hand Surgery.

At Aarau, he specialised in soft tissue reconstruction techniques, particularly in aesthetic and oncological breast surgery, serving as Chief Resident from 2002.

Since 2004, he has been practising independently in Sorengo, near Lugano, while also working at Clinica Sant’Anna in Sorengo.

From 2004 to 2012, he collaborated with the Breast Centre of Southern Switzerland (CSSI) in Lugano as Associate Physician responsible for plastic and reconstructive surgery.

In 2010, he obtained a Level II Master in Senology from La Sapienza University of Rome.

A former President of the Medical Board, Dr De Monaco has served as Medical Director of the Breast Centre at Clinica Sant’Anna in Sorengo, Lugano since 2019.

He has been President of the Ticino Society of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery since 2022.

In 2024, he joined Affidea Switzerland as co-founder of the Ticino Breast Centre.
