Biography
Prof Dr Jian Farhadi specialises in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic breast surgery. He speaks German, Persian, English, French and Italian.
Prof Dr Farhadi began his medical career in 1996 as a surgical resident at the regional hospital in Burgdorf. Until 2005, he pursued further training in various specialties, serving as a resident at the Clinic for Visceral and Transplant Surgery at Inselspital Bern, the Reconstructive Surgery Clinic and the Surgery Department of University Hospital Basel, as well as at Yale University, USA.
His recognised expertise and strong passion for medicine led to his appointment in 2005 as Chief Physician of the Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery Clinic at University Hospital Basel. He completed a fellowship in microsurgical reconstruction at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London and became an FMH-certified specialist. His academic career was crowned in 2007 with his habilitation and teaching at the University of Basel, followed by an appointment as Associate Professor in 2016.
Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London became his professional home starting in 2007. There, he advanced his expertise, first as a consultant and later as Chief of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department. He returned to Switzerland in 2016, founding the Plastic Surgery Group and becoming Chief of Plastic Surgery at the Zurich Breast Center.
In addition to his surgical work, Prof Dr Farhadi is a member of numerous key professional societies, including the Swiss Society for Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery, the Swiss Society of Senology, the European Association of Plastic Surgeons (EURAPS), the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).
He is also deeply committed to education and research. In 2014, he founded the London Breast Meeting, now the leading breast medicine congress. His list of publications includes over 100 scientific articles, covering innovative research and book chapters. His work is highly regarded in the field.
