Biography
Dr Katharina Leunig is a board-certified FMH specialist in gynaecology and obstetrics. She has also been working at the Zurich Breast Center since March 2013. Her medical practice focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of breast diseases, genetic counselling in cases of suspected familial breast cancer predisposition, all areas of gynaecology and obstetrics, certification in prenatal ultrasound (SSUM), as well as operative gynaecology and obstetrics. In addition to her native German, she also speaks English, French and Italian.
Her medical career began in 1997 with the state exam from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Bern. She gained formative experience at various hospitals in Switzerland, including the University Hospital of Geneva, the Biel Hospital Center, the Cantonal Hospital of Fribourg and Bern University’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She continued her robust training as a senior physician at Triemli Hospital in Zurich. In 2006, Dr Katharina Leunig earned the FMH specialist title in gynaecology and obstetrics. Her academic curiosity and continual drive to enhance medical care led her to pursue additional training in genetic counselling and obtain a degree in senology.
Dr Katharina Leunig is an active member of several professional societies including FMH, ASMAC, the SAKK CPTC Network and the SSS. Her membership in the Zurich Cantonal Gynaecological Association further reflects her commitment to the region and to delivering the highest level of medical care.
