Dr. med. Myrjam-Alice Twyla MÜLLER

Biography
Dr. med. Twyla Müller is a specialist in gynecology and obstetrics with a focus on complementary and integrative medicine. She speaks German, English, and Spanish.
From 2018 to 2025, she worked at the Institute of Complementary and Integrative Medicine at Zurich University Hospital (USZ). She initially served as a senior physician and, from 2023 onward, as lead senior physician, where she headed the institute’s outpatient clinic and, among other responsibilities, oversaw the area of Chinese medicine.
During her medical studies, Dr. Müller developed a strong interest in complementary and integrative therapies. Following a clinical traineeship, she began her doctoral research in the Department of Naturopathy and Integrative Medicine under Prof. Dr. Gustav Dobos at the University of Essen. She completed her doctorate in 2007 with a dissertation on lifestyle modifications in patients with chronic inflammatory bowel diseases.
Dr. Müller studied human medicine at the universities of Halle, Valencia, and Essen and obtained her medical license in 2004. She completed her specialist training in gynecology and obstetrics at St. Vinzenz Hospital Cologne, Vinzenz Pallotti Hospital Bensberg, Kliniken Essen-Mitte with a focus on senology, naturopathy, and integrative oncology, as well as at St. Anna Hospital Herne.
After passing her specialist examination in 2012, she worked at AGAPLESION Markus Hospital Frankfurt, where she led the naturopathic consultation service for integrative gynecology and oncology within the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Following the birth of her daughter in 2015, she worked in a gynecological practice until her move to Zurich and Zurich University Hospital.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Müller is actively involved in medical and non-medical continuing education, including the CAS program in Mind-Body Medicine at the University of Zurich. She holds the Swiss certification in acupuncture and Chinese medicine (ASA) and has additional qualifications in naturopathy, phytotherapy, and neural therapy.
Dr. Müller is currently training as a complementary therapist specializing in yoga therapy (OdA KT) under Dr. Kerstin Khattab and is also participating in a mentorship program to become a yoga teacher in the B. K. S. Iyengar method under Dörthe Braun.
Dr. Twyla Müller is a member of several national and international professional societies, including the Commission for Integrative Medicine in Oncology (IMed) of the Gynecological Oncology Working Group (AGO), the German Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics (DGGG), the German Cancer Society (DKG), the German Medical Association for Acupuncture (DÄGfA), the Swiss Medical Society for Acupuncture, Chinese Medicine, and Auriculomedicine (SACAM), and the Swiss Medical Society for Phytotherapy (SMGP). She has also published numerous scientific articles in various professional journals over recent years.
